Just for Persona, our resident conspiracy theorist So ... Just watched on the news a little ticker news banner saying the World Health Organisation are going to stop referring to it as 'Swine Flu' to prevent confusion of human-to-human spread of this flu. Of course all the news outlets, including the one this ticker is on, are still calling it 'Swine' Flu because it sounds sinister. And within 5 minutes of the news ticker, the bit about the WHO has been replaced by something else now. Nothing scares people into spending money quite like the words "Pandemic". Big Business' way of handling the economic crisis? Someone's gonna make a ton of money out of this. Billions. I'm leaning towards pharmaceuticals.

Unsurprisingly I've heard a few comments already about this being a man-made (or at least a man-induced) virus, but I haven't really put any effort in to find out more about this particular opinion. Pandemic = big business does have a clear logical ring to it, but as with everything I'd need to learn a lot more to really consider the idea.
Aside from that, I woke up this morning feeling like crap. Semi-serious body-ache/weakness which I know to be the beginnings of a cold/flu, (no doubt man-cold as I'm male and Flu is actually a lot more debilitating). Obviously a small part of me is thinking 'swine flu?'. I'm sure I'll be fine, (that's the English spirit: ignore it).
Great start to my three-day weekend though.

Regular flu already kills a ton of people a year anyway. Not that I think you'll die or anything ... hehe

I don't know what that means... I'm so out of touch.
One freaky dream I did remember: Outdoor photo shoot for Mushroomhead without the masks, but wearing viking gear. All the band members were in a line except the singer stood in front of them all. My camera went all funny and I had to take it to pieces apologies for the delay. Before my camera broke I explained to them all how it's not very professional to flip photos although if they were wearing the masks then it wouldn't matter.... because they are symmetrical.
I couldn't name you one Mushroomhead song. I've read one article about them about 8 years ago and how they were "The new Slipknot???"
What the fuck is going on in my head?
Back on topic: I watched (another) online "documentary" by a guy called something Russo (apparently a pretty famous Hollywood director) who turned his hand to activism very similar to Alex Jones. The film I watched touched on similar stuff Alex Jones has already brought to my attention. There was quite a heavy focus on ID cards and of course ID implanted chips. To keep this on topic, (and not about my flu-induced visions) I shall ask:
"ID cards... yay or nay?"

Spain have ID cards. They didn't prevent the madrid bombings. ID cards are useless.

Well, from the very off I didn't understand how and why ID cards were related to anti-terror devices, so I never took that argument seriously.
Early days, (naively) they pleased my logical brain. Everything in one card sounded quite cool. It was new technology being implemented, which to me was, (or at least seemed like) a good thing.
Now though, well, it's probably obvious what I think. There are few major arguments against them really, (depending on what/how much you believe). Simple one: you have all you information in one place and you loose it or worse it gets stolen. I'm sure they'll talk about password-protected-1000-digit-security, (or something along those lines) but from the little I know, hackers can eventually hack anything.
Another rational argument is the lack of competency of the government/government-controlled organisations. Only in the last 2 or 3 years have we had very well-paid, apparently quite intelligent information-type peoples leave documents on public transport, misplace masses of data on CD and more recently photographed leaving their friggin' car with the "top secret" file exposed for all to see. So I have very little confidence in them protecting everything about me.
My third point is derived from many of these "conspiracy theory" sources, but it really isn't that far fetched. If, in the not-too-distant future we all have ID cards or even ID chips and that's how the country/world runs then the power really is in there hands. What if they decide, for what ever reason to wipe your card or deactivate your chip? The card/chip which has become your travel card, passport, health info/history, driving license, access to secure areas/buildings, electronic money, bank info etc.
You'd be fucked.
