While doing random P.S.I. search thies torrent of "komplete pitchshifter diskog" keeps popping up......So curiosity got the better of me today and i had a look. Now i'm not anti-torrent, infact i may have been known from time to time to indulge in a spot of downloading naughty torrent albums, but as i rule if i like it i buy it, if it's crap i delete it. Now this may have been brought up before on the other board, and i may have missed it but WOAH it has almost everything, including some rare stuff including messiah! Which means it must be from a fan....If it's you then please delete it as this is just wrong.I mean every release and more for free, it takes the piss, i had to wait weeks before i afford to buy some of that stuff, and a fan puts it out there for free.CHEAP FUCKERS DELETE IT!...Ok rant over. It is wrong tho.

I am not a "download for free" person myself unless it's something extremely rare (live shows etc). I hear you putting up a complete discography for download sucks.

Don't know who it is. If it's still available to buy, it shouldn't be up. If it's no longer in the public domain or is otherwise unobtainable, then I'm all for torrents. It's the modern day equivolent to tape trading, which is how Metalica got noticed to start with.

I've been talking or typing on other forums about this. What gets me is that people see it as fair or even right. Back 15 years ago torrents would have been great for me as a way to discover new music, but the whole discography takes this beyond just a way to discover. What with youtube, lastfm and indeed most official band websites now offering full mp3 goodness so you can tell if you like them and reviews on sites like this where you get many varied views/reviews on new albums, torrents in my mind are just wrong. Like K.J. said if it's no longer available or hard to obtain then yes ish, maybe even one track to see if it's to your taste, but whole history. Sorry about the rant but it just angers me. I enjoy owning albums, having a collection. These people just get it for free.... I know i'm ranting at the wrong people..sorry

I disagree with you on some parts, and agree on some. I understand all the copyright shit, people getting this for free, etc. but if you want to listen to an album, and there is no music stores around, and goddamn broke, torrents = good. Then there is viruses in some, but not in some of the music torrents. AND if you look at that pitchshifter discography torrent there are NO seeders, and 2 leechers, which makes it virtually impossible to download. please calm down.

I know, its just that undeserving people get their dirty hands on shit they dont deserve to own, but it is sometimes useful. and i forgot to mention, I respect your decision, alot of people are that way, and alot of people like torrents.

There are plenty of legal, official digital music download sites now. itunes is obviously the most popular, but eMusic is just as good and isn't plagued with digital rights management. Amazon has its own digital download service as well as some other sites (such as HMV). So the excuse "there aren't any record stores around that have it" is quite weak. The internet has opened up home delivery and direct delivery for all types of media, as well as other products and services.
And the band still get royalties or concessions when their music is sold this way.

Seriosly you can pay 99cents a song listen to it, if you dig it save money and buy the album. Or go to you tube search for the artist listen to a couple of songs and If you dig well save some money and buy later.

This point makes little sense to me. I don't wish to get into the whole definitions thing (when it comes to 'copying'/'stealing'/'borrowing') but if you can't afford something then surely you just can't have it. It's only because of the format and accessibility that it is so easy to do. Not only that, but music isn't exactly a necessity, (disputable, I know, but I'm being factual about it). This isn't to do with people's health and standard of living. I played devil's advocate when I was discussing this heavily with (I think) Persona420 over a year ago. Since then, admittedly I've started to download more stuff via torrents, (not a whole lot as my weak 2MB wireless connection doesn't get me far). The stuff I have downloaded, (that I like) does eventually get purchased in a physical format, (I'm still clinging on to CDs). Most of the stuff I've downloaded, (if not all of it) is quite hard to come by. There's a few Breakcore artists who just spread their stuff around for free and don't bother with CDs. Anyway, torrents have some value, but I presume that they are thoroughly abused on a massive scale. A Pitchshifter discog torrent...? Well, I'm obviously biased. Bin it off and get the CDs. They're definitely worth it.

I have 2 friends that has steady jobs , OK paid and yet they still download, I am sure if Interpol caught them they will be serving a 4 life-term sentences because all the music /software they have downloaded. That pisses me off A LOT. So I am not all for it when it comes to torrents.
