Of course. Strange in the beginning, (plus I was quite young). Brilliant in the middle. Shit at the end. The film has been on and off for about a decade and the new series rumour has been going around ever since the last series ended.
I like it generally now, but I think comedy has become a bit sharper since the 90s. I don't know if Red Dwarf would work now. Even they tried to ramp up the graphics/special effects near the end which kind of killed the whole point of Red Dwarf.... that it was funny because it was cheap.

It looked better, but I don't know if that was a good thing. The last full series was a bit more stylish and that did it no favours, but this time around I thought it was quite cool.
But, with the naff-ness gone and the laughter-track taken out I felt like it wasn't really a laugh-a-minute comedy... but rather a humourous Sci-Fi.... if that makes sense.
Overall it felt a little bit embarrassing. But I'll still tune in tonight to see part two... oh and Smeg-Ups.

Felt like a waste of time and money. The cast were phoning it in, the script and plot is really average ... I just didn't get into it.
The only good thing I can say is at least it was only half an hour, and at least I recorded first so I could skip the adverts.

Part 2.... actually quite good. Any decent reunion-type-special needs to be a bit different and having the show turn inwards on itself, (even though it's not a super-original idea) is quite cool. Loads of opportunities for in-jokes, nostalgia and clever references. I'm assuming that the real-world people, places and props, (the "smart-bug" at least) are genuinely from the fans. I wonder if they meet Naylor at the end?
Were the two kids on the bus some kind of nod to something? They seemed to be quite prominent, (even though they were terrible actors). My brother recons they are part of the Corrie cast. I'm guessing Lister will meet himself on the set of Corrie anyway.
Anyone get spot the not-so-subtle Blade Runner scene? Also, the photo zoom part was hilarious.
