where/how did you find/hear of pitchshifter? I heard of them in a video game named Twisted Metal III, that game has a great soundtrack containing another few of my favorite bands. After I heard WYSIWYG in a future-like arena in Twisted Metal, I loved Pitchshifter. I love the part around 2:20 in wysiwyg, it has a evil-like sound. in case you didnt know the game, Twisted Metal is a car-shooter/demolition derby that you use weapons installed on the car to kill the enemy in another car. its on wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twisted_Metal_III

Back around 16/17 years ago a guy who ran a secondhand record shop that i frequented, made a mix tape of weird new stuff i might like.On said mix tape was a few pitch shifter songs. Off i went and bought all i could. Had to order everything not mainstream back then, so it took a while to find out bits about them.
I just thought "WOW" it was like nothing out at the time, totally unique, industrial rock with a drum machine and samples??? Better get what you can fast 'cos people ain't gonna get this and the band wont last..........so 16/17 years later and guess what.....

Obituary gig when I was, umm, 13 or 14 I think. I don't think I should have been allowed in to it, but I've always been tall so looked older haha.
Didn't follow them that closely until dot com album came out, and I didn't have the interwebs properly until 1999.

Hidden Agenda on MTV2 (when it was good). I came from an electronic/dance background and only recently during that time started to appreciate guitars, (but mainly the aggression that came with popular nu-metal stuff that was coming out during that time). Embarrassingly I was into Limp Bizkit back then, but in my defense the music was pretty good.... the vocals are what killed it dead. (For any hardcore regulars, I was "The Bizkit" when I first registered to the PSI boards.
I was just getting use to Napster and so downloaded a few Pitchshifter tracks to see if Hidden Agenda was a one-off. Because of the way in which Napster worked I downloaded the most popular ones, (so I had Genius, Microwaved etc.). Individual songs of course, this was the era of dial-up, (and even then our connection was shocking). Deviant came out a month or so later and I asked Santa to get me it for Christmas. Mr. Clause delivered and I played Deviant endlessly. Limp Bizkit began to gather dust whilst I really started to dig for music, (instead of relying on the telly-box to tell me what to like).
Shamefully I have to thank Limp Bizkit for getting me into this kind of music, but really it was Pitchshifter that kick-started my love for electronic-guitar-cross music. Nearly everything since Pitchshifter I still have in my collection, (Orgy, Gravity Kills, Fear Factory, Rammstein, Static-X, Spineshank, Apartment 26, Filter, Godhead, Snake River Conspiracy, The Mad Capsule Markets etc.). Obviously my range and tastes have developed and widened since then.
Mortal Kombat, (original soundtrack) has had quite an impact on me too, (though not the second (Annihilation) which is what you're referring to Maninacan). I only bought it because I liked the MK theme, but then I started to like Gravity Kills and over the next ten years I'd progressively found myself getting into individual bands on the album. I honestly didn't like Fear Factory's Zero Signal for a while, but eventually I loved it.... before that I got into Orbital and years after all of these I began to like Bile. Quite strange.
Anyway, it didn't take long for me to buy Dot Com and anything else with 'Pitchshifter' written on it. Again, I honestly didn't like much before Infotainment?, but with a few listens I kind of learned to love it, (not it a forced way though). I think I've said this before, but some of my favourite music is stuff that I didn't really like/understand when I first heard it, (Tool/APC, Mad Capsule Markets, early PSI, earlier Skinny Puppy, Killing Joke, Rage Against The Machine, Ministry).

Limp Bizkit first album (Three dollar bill y'all) was good and still good to my ears. Everything else the put out is horse shit. Guess that's part of the Nu Metal legacy. Which funny thing is, I don't hear anything of New ( I really hate the word "NU") Metal nowadays at all, but i found some MP3 file on my old computer of a band called "Motograter" they just released one album and it's a shame because it's one of the few bands that are worth listening to from that genre.
By the way, it's so great to see this board is a major success, well done KJ!

I never really got into them, but Korn are still going. The jaunt into the hiphop world really tarnished their already dodgy image. I'm told they're back on track and their latest album is brilliant, but all of their previous work sounded samey to me anyway.

I used to dabble in street skating (aggressive inline) and while buying a pair of skates at my town's small skate shop, the owner gave me a demo containing Genius and WYSIWYG. I was probably 12 years old or so. Popped it in, and I think I recall not really like it initially but as the weeks went on I wore that cassette out and went out to buy the .com album. They were the first band I fell in love with and helped sculpt the person I became.
